The look and feel

When I first opened the box I have found a sleek looking device. I liked the sports car paint on it with the double stripes and I can say for certain that after a lot of usage and abuse the paint on this device is still in good condition.  The only part I seen catch a few scratches is top part near the 510 connector. The size of the device is 47/25.5/85.6 mm, to me the size is just about right, it sits very nicely in the hand, you don’t feel the weight of the device although if you are coming from smaller devices then you might feel this device is a bit heavy.  The fire button on this device feels nice and clicky, its of a decent size and it sits near the top of the display. You can easily reach it without even looking at the device since it is not flushed, you can fire it easily with the pointer finger or thumb. I am not a particular fan of the adjustment rocker, it is easy to use however sometimes it tends to get stuck (probably due to e-juice getting in there). I usually clean the adjustment rocker with a paper towel and after that it works perfectly. The other drawback I found regarding the adjustment rocker would be the fact that locking settings or putting the device in stealth mode is a bit more difficult compared to regular adjustment buttons. Both the fire button and adjustment rocker are all chrome. I am not a huge fan of the 510 connector on this mod, in particular because it is non-adjustable however I have used this mod with a variety of atomizers (RDAs&RTAs) and had no issues.

The battery

The battery on this device is a 5000 mAh built-in battery. For me battery life has been pretty good with this device. If this is your only device and you do not have others to rotate it will probably last you a day and a half. If you have one more device or you don’t vape that much you will probably be able to get two days out of this device. Another nice feature would be the pass-through charging, this means you can vape on the device while you have it plugged in to charge. The only slight drawback I found regarding the battery is the fact that it does not feature 2 Amp charging to enable faster charge times.

The display and functions

The Joyetech eVic VT is a variable temperature controlled box mod, this means you can adjust the temperature (cooler or hotter)  of your vape depending on your liking. To do this, you will either need a Nickel coil or a Titanium coil. The device can handle both types of coils. Information concerning the temperature of your vape is displayed on a nice big bright OLED display. The device has 3 modes to choose from: variable wattage (or power mode), variable temperature Ni (Nickel), variable temperature Ti(Titanium).

The menu system is pretty straight forward and easy to understand. To turn on the device all you need to do is press the fire button 5 times, same goes for powering off the device. To enter the menu system you will have to press the fire button 3 time, at this point you will see the first line on the display begin to flash, from here you will then be able to choose your operation mode. Pushing the rocker to the left will scroll you down to the next line on the display to adjust, pushing the rocker to the right will adjust that line.  The box mod also displays a puff counter or a time counter instead of the battery bar. You can choose between these 3 views: battery bar, puff counter or time counter. To display a puff counter instead of the battery bar, you will have to enter the menu and scroll down to the battery line, once this flashes you will need to mode the adjustment rocker to the right and you will see you puff counter. To reset the puff counter or time counter, you will need to long press the fire button when you are in adjustment mode (puff counter/time counter is flashing).

Now let’s go over the pro’s and con’s for this device:

Pros:
+ Great battery life.
+ User friendly, easy to fire and easy to set with just a finger.
+ Good OLED screen with sufficient information, brightness is good and I didn’t have any trouble in the sun with it either.
+ Good set of features (stealth mode, puff counter, time counter, device lock).
+ Safety features (atomizer low, atomizer short, battery low lock).
+ Packaging includes silicone sleeve and 1 Amp wall adapter.

Cons:
– No option to upgrade the firmware.
– Non adjustable 510 pin.
– Built-in battery, once the battery is dead it is time for a new device or have it replaced in service. Battery is not user replaceable.
– Wattage might be a bit too low for some builds (device is limited to 60W).

The eVic-VT is available as a full kit including the eGo One Mega tank or as a standalone box mod (without the tank).
